This Saturday at the Store
We've got more berries this week. Heidi and some of the kids are off picking Blueberries and Blackberries in Franklin, Texas right now. And we have peaches from Gonzales, lots of zucchini, and yellow and patty-pan squash. There *may* be a few cucumbers from Roger Fielder, but he had a possum eat a bunch that were just about ready to pick!
Besides the berries, we've got something else a little special - Chinese long beans, also called yardlong beans. The're a green bean that grows 1 - 2 feet long or longer. They stay thin and tender and they're SO good. You can break or cut them into pieces and cook them like regular green beans, or you can do like we do and stir fry them in a little sesame oil with slivered almonds and serve them with soy sauce! We can make an entire meal of them and they're aboslutely beautiful on a plate.
You may note that we haven't mentioned having tomatoes yet. Mainly we don't want to get anyone's hopes up and have them drive out and find that we don't have any. We've been getting a *very* few. Last week we sold two or three little baskets and we'll probably have that this week as well. In a couple more weeks we should have a better supply, Lord willing.
