Liana Stir Fry

Since we're producing lots of liana beans and some people don't know what to do with them, I thought I'd share our favorite way to eat them.  You can also just cut them up into small pieces and cook them like any other fresh green beans, but since they're an asian vegetable we like to eat them asian style....

Heidi's liana stir fry:

One basket fresh liana beans (yard long green beans)

1/2 cup sliced or slivered almonds (or since this is Texas you could substitute 1/2 cup chopped pecans)

2 Tablespoons sesame oil (get it in the oriental section of the grocery store.  We prefer the dark brown, stronger kind, but you can use the lighter kind if you want)

2 Tablespoons soy sauce (use less or more according to your own tastes)

Heat the oil in a heavy bottom pan, skillet, or wok until it's quite hot but not smoking.  Cut the beans into 4-6 inch long pieces.  Toss the beans into the pan, stir for one minute, then add the soy sauce and nuts and stir fry until tender.  That's it.  Serves about four.
