Special hours for the holiday weekend!!
We have decided that for the Fourth of July weekend, we will open the store for more days and hours in hopes of convincing people that they need to buy lots of delicious, cold watermelons and TOMATOES (for putting on all those freshly grilled amazing grass-finished hamburgers from Wild Type Ranch)
So, Heidi is not going to go down to the Georgetown Farmer's Market this Thursday and we're going to open the store instead. I'll have Friday off to run the store, so all together we'll be open three whole days in a row -
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday July 3 - 5, we will be open from 10-4.
All those of you who have been asking about hours other than Saturday, here's your big chance to come out.
We finally found a source for tomatoes!!! On our way back from our mini-vacation in San Antonio, we found out about a young man named James who works at a really cool nursery in Seguin. He grew up on a farm. His dad still farms and let James use a little land and his equipment and water. James made the fortuitous decision to plant tomatoes on it and has been harvesting and selling them for a while now. We bought his entire last crop of the summer.
They're not "organic" as he applied commercial fertilizer twice - once at transplant and once after fruit set. But that's all he's done to them. They're fantastic and ready to eat - I made some pico de gallo last night.
We also have lots of watermelon. This time we also have some of the smaller seedless ones for those of you who don't think you could manage to eat one of the big ones like we've had the last couple of weeks. We weren't able to get cantaloupe.
Of course, there will be lots of squash, and the liana green beans are still coming in (though they are slowing down a bit). We still have some red potatoes and some onions and of course, our farm fresh eggs.
Hope to see you this weekend. Please let people know we're open Thursday and Friday this week. And our watermelon will already be COLD and ready for your picnic!
