What's at Greener Vision this Saturday

Well, summer definitely seems to be over and fall is on its way...

We really have been fighting off the deer lately, as the drought has brought pressure to bear on the natural food supply.  We lost several bean and squash plants this week, but we're holding out.  If only I can manage to get moving on that deer fence!

Tomorrow at the store we will have a broad selection of produce, but some of it will be limited in quantity.

Grown by us organically and sustainably on-site:

Liana beans
Yellow and zucchini squash
Eggplant
(three kinds)
Peppers

Grown locally and sustainably by a farm in Oakalla:
Pumpkins

Grown locally but conventionally in Fredericksburg:
Tomatoes

Additionally, there will be the very beginnings of our fall harvest, first come first served -
radishes
acorn and carnival squash
and the thinnings from the baby greens

Our own medium pie pumpkins are starting to turn orange, so in a couple of weeks we'll have those ready just in time for fall.

We still have plenty of eggs, but production continues to drop.  We're only getting a couple dozen a day now, down from a peak of close to eight dozen a day back in the spring.  We have new baby chicks in the bathtub, so we're gearing up for next year.

We still have goat-milk soap, Celtic sea salt, Mrs. MacArthur's pepper relishes and salsas, local honey and spreads, and some frozen blackberries from this past summer.

See you Saturday from 10-4!!!
