Greener Vision Open this Saturday

We're officially opening for the spring!

Hours in the beginning will be limited, but we'll be expanding them as more things start to produce.  For now, we expect to be open every Saturday, beginning this Saturday, March 7, for three hours - from 10-1.  Lord willing, in a few weeks we'll be able to be open all day Saturday, and our eventual goal is to add at least one more full day a week, plus a presence at three farmer's markets.

We will have farm fresh eggs, a fresh batch of local honey (Heidi's in Llano picking it up right now), salsas and relishes, Lettuce mix, and Swiss Chard.

We will also have a nice selection of starter plants for your garden
!  Gene has converted his garage into an indoor greenhouse for starting plants, and he will be bringing out a big selection of TOMATOES, PEPPERS, SQUASH, and CUCUMBERS!! They are started in a commercial (non-organic) potting soil, but have not been sprayed with ANYTHING, so as far as I'm concerned, they're organic enough to start your garden.  These are really nice plants in 4-inch pots, and we're able to get them to you at an extremely reasonable price - for now they're $1.50 each. That's comparable to the price you'd pay for 4-inch-pot veggies at any of the big places in town and these are grown by a local small producer instead of being trucked here from a 100-acre greenhouse in Colorado.

We really wanted to be able to carry Gardenville organic fertilizers for you as well, but that didn't work out. Heidi is experimenting with a
number of sustainable soil-enrichments, and we'll make notes of how well they work, so Lord willing we'll have something for you next year, or maybe even in time for your fall garden. In the meantime, they do carry a few organic gardening supplies at Piddler Creek Nursery in Lampasas and quite a good selection at Oma's Garden in Killeen.

So hurry by on Saturday. The official average last frost date for our area is 15 March, so it's time to start on those gardens!
