Farm Spring

EDIT:  This update is about the farm, not the kids, but I managed to get pictures of all the kids in here anyway...except Macy.  Didn't have a recent picture of her doing anything farm-related - though she does "help" quite a bit, but here's a pic of her anyway, just 'cause she's cute...

Just to catch everyone up, we thought we’d finally get around to posting a few pictures of what’s going on around here

Some of our beautiful lettuce that we had such success with this spring.  Alas, it’s all bolted (gone to seed, which makes it bitter), so now the cows are getting it.

These two patches of beets are Heidi’s “soil amendment” experiment.  The upper ones didn’t get her blend of cottonseed meal, rock phosphate, etc. and the lower ones did.

Here’s Eli, hard at work doing his school at the Georgetown Farmer’s Market.  Must be rough.

Hailey manning our booth at the Community Montessori School’s Serendipity festival

A couple of our highly-paid farm staff hard at work

Hailey with the chickens

Kayla milking Beauty, our dairy goat, and, no we can’t sell you any of the milk, nor any of the amazing feta and chevre cheese that we make from it.  We’d go to jail, but that’s another article.  Besides, we eat it all and wouldn’t share anyway

Hailey again, this time with Sacagawea, one of the recent baby goats.  Her brother’s name is Squanto  - the goat’s brother, not Hailey’s
